We've been teaching Annie about proper language lately. She thinks it's funny to say "poop" and "pee" and "boobie" at inappropriate times. We've told her that as long as she's on the potty, she can say potty words, but if she's not on the potty, they aren't appropriate. So now, when she is on the potty, she is known to say all the potty words in a row, "pooppeetootboob," and then exclaim "but I'm on the potty!"
She's caught us a couple of times saying potty words. Sometimes they are honest mistakes and we have had to put ourselves in time-out. Other times, like today, John just says a word that Annie perceives to be a potty word. Today when he was talking to me, Annie immediately piped up and told me that Daddy said a forbidden potty word.
"What potty word did he say?" I said.
"Tooty."
"Tooty?"
"Yes, he said tooty."
We then realized that Daddy had said "Counter-intuitive" in the middle of his conversation with me.
We explained what Counter-intuitive meant, but I still think she thinks Daddy needs to be in time-out.

tee-hee. John said "tuitive." Eli misunderstands us all the time and goes out of his way to start arguments about things that were never even said.
