I got called to give a talk in Sacrament meeting on Sunday. I almost pulled out the "Do you realize I just had surgery" card but decided that I am healed and quite capable of standing and orating for 10 minutes.
This next Thursday will mark six weeks since someone attacked my abdomen with a scalpel. That is usually the mark that the doctors say that you can return to complete normalcy. Six weeks is the amount of time my surgeon would have wanted me to stay away from work, but my surgeon cleared me at four weeks. I probably could have been cleared at two weeks, but my cervix wasn't quite healed yet.
People keep asking me if this surgery was in any way like my c-section. My answer is always yes and no. At the beginning, it hurt more - I had a bigger incision to deal with - but I don't remember feeling this good at six weeks post-partum. It probably had something to do with the massive hormones and the baby attached to my breast, but I remember going in for my six week appointment finally feeling "not so bad." With this surgery I was feeling up to walking around and doing stuff within a couple weeks.
Have I told you lately how grateful I am for a loving Heavenly Father? He knows my heart. This is all that I wanted.
I'm still doing well and I hope this is the last of my surgery reports.
