It is not Christmas to my husband without a balsa-wood flyer. These planes that are put together and break within a millisecond of flying are a part of his childhood that he wants to be a part of Annie's childhood.
We see them throughout the year and think "We really need to get some of those for Christmas," but we stupidly never do.
So it's become my tradition to try to find these elusive planes. I spent 2.5 hours going to two Walgreens, Big Lots, WalMart, Target, Michaels, Bed Bath and Beyond, a CVS, Albertsons/Osco and finally went to Party City. There they didn't have anything made of balsa wood (is it considered evil now?) but they had a passable cardboard flyer that will have to do this year.
Someone please remind me in July to get a hundred of these things? Then I will be set until Annie leaves the house.
